Wingo commenced operations this Tuesday on its new international non-stop route between Medellin and Montego Bay, Jamaica. This strategic connection, operated from Jose Maria Cordova International Airport, makes the company the only airline to offer non-stop flights between both destinations, expanding air connectivity options from the capital of Antioquia.

New Operation Details and Market Capacity

The new direct route to Montego Bay is designed to serve both leisure and business demand, facilitating access to one of the Caribbean’s most iconic destinations, renowned for its beaches, cultural wealth, gastronomy, and hotel offerings.

Key specifications of the service include:

  • Weekly frequencies: Three flights per week, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Annual capacity: The airline will provide the market with over 30,000 seats per year.
  • Launch fares: Tickets are already available starting at USD 168 one-way, a price that includes taxes and fees.

Medellin Consolidates as a Key Hub for Wingo

The capital of Antioquia continues to gain traction within the airline’s network strategy. With this new connection, Wingo reaches a total of 10 international destinations operated from Medellin, complemented by five domestic routes.

Jorge Jimenez, Vice President of Commercial and Planning at Wingo, highlighted that the inauguration represents a firm step in its commitment to strengthening the region’s low-cost international connectivity. The dynamism of the Antioquian market is backed by company figures: so far in 2026, the airline has already carried 690,000 passengers on its routes to and from Medellin.

The launch of non-stop operations between Medellin and Montego Bay not only diversifies low-cost travel options for Colombian passengers but also decentralizes the country’s air connectivity, eliminating the need for mandatory layovers.
