LATAM Airlines Colombia Launches Temporary Barcelona Route to Mitigate Venezuela Connectivity Emergency

LATAM Airlines Colombia initiated operations on Monday for a new international route between Bogota and Barcelona, located in Anzoategui state. The service aims to offer alternative travel options amid the ongoing contingency affecting the Venezuelan market. This decision seeks to counter severe operational limitations at the country’s primary airport and provide connectivity solutions for affected passengers.

The new air link, operated by the Colombian subsidiary of the LATAM Group, will run temporarily throughout the entire month of July. The route has been structured under the following technical and schedule parameters:

Contingency Plan and Passenger Flexibility Policy

In addition to launching this new destination, the airline has implemented a commercial flexibility policy for travelers whose flight plans were impacted following the earthquakes recorded on June 24 in Venezuelan territory.

For passengers holding tickets issued to fly between June 25 and July 31, LATAM Airlines Colombia is permitting the selection of one of the following options without additional fees or penalties:

  • Date Change: Flight rescheduling up to one (1) year from the original travel date, maintaining the originally booked cabin class.
  • Refund: Full refund of the ticket value.
  • Rerouting: Modification of the final destination to the cities of Cucuta, Riohacha, or Barcelona.
