Ethiopian Airlines to Equip New Boeing 777X Fleet with Panasonic’s Astrova

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a strategic agreement with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to equip its future Boeing 777X fleet with Astrova, the Japanese manufacturer’s most advanced in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution. The agreement covers the line-fit installation of this system in the eight 777-9 aircraft the airline has on order, with the first delivery scheduled for 2028.

With this decision, Ethiopia’s flag carrier reinforces its commitment to delivering a world-class flight experience, positioning itself as a leader in innovation within the African continent and on the global stage.

Astrova: An Immersive Experience at 30,000 Feet

Astrova promises to redefine the concept of in-flight entertainment. Each passenger will enjoy 4K OLED screens with HDR10+ support, delivering cinema-quality visuals and high-fidelity audio powered by Panasonic Avionics’ latest Bluetooth technology.

Additionally, every seat will be equipped with USB-C ports offering up to 100W of power, enabling fast charging for smartphones, tablets, compatible laptops, and other electronic devices during all phases of the flight.

The system also features programmable LED lighting, designed to enhance cabin ambiance and optimize passenger comfort throughout each stage of the journey.
