Colombia: Tibú Airport to Resume Commercial Operations in June
The Tibú Airport, located in the Norte de Santander department of Colombia, will resume commercial operations on June 18 following significant progress in its modernization process. This reactivation is made possible by an ambitious maintenance plan led by the National Government and executed by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Strategic Investment to Modernize Infrastructure
With a total investment of 711,263,714 million pesos, the ongoing contract includes key work on runways, platforms, taxiways, signaling systems, drainage, sanitary facilities, and land clearing. These efforts are currently over 62% complete.

Direct Impact on the Population and Catatumbo’s Economy
The revival of commercial routes—beginning with flights operated by Satena from Cúcuta—will go beyond passenger transport. The airport will serve as a vital logistics channel for delivering food, medical supplies, and essential goods to Tibú and neighboring municipalities.
Additionally, the upgraded infrastructure will improve access to basic services, boost local commerce, and create new opportunities for productive projects in the region.
With the project in its final stages and the reopening date set, Tibú is ready to take off toward a new era of progress.
