Iberia Group to Operate Over 1,920 Flights During First Weekend of Summer
Iberia Group (comprising Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum) is launching the peak summer season with a large-scale air operation. Between Friday, June 27, and Sunday, June 29, the company will operate a total of 1,921 flights, coinciding with the year’s first major holiday exodus.
Massive Capacity Deployment: 266,498 Seats Available
During this busy weekend, the group has made 266,498 seats available, distributed across domestic, European, and transoceanic flights. The airline’s strategy aims to meet the high demand from passengers choosing to travel at the start of summer.
Of the scheduled flights:
- 916 will be short-haul, primarily routes within Spain.
- 778 will be medium-haul, covering European destinations.
- 227 will be long-haul, connecting Madrid with the Americas and other intercontinental destinations.
Charter Flights Added to Support the Cruise Industry
In addition to its regular schedule, the group has added ten special charter flights during this weekend. These services are designed to meet the logistical needs of cruise companies operating in key ports across Europe and the Americas.
Destinations for these charter flights include Hamburg, Athens, Palm Beach, Catania, Bari, Trieste, Venice, and Istanbul.

Madrid as the Operational Hub
Of the total 1,921 flights, 800 will depart from Madrid-Barajas Airport, solidifying its role as the group’s main hub. From the Spanish capital, flights will head to domestic, European, and transoceanic destinations.
Top Destinations: Beaches, European Cities, and Latin America
Passenger demand reflects traditional summer preferences:
- In Spain, beach destinations dominate, with Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca, and Ibiza leading bookings.
- In Europe, capitals like London, Paris, and Rome stand out, each with multiple daily frequencies.
- In Latin America, Bogotá and Mexico City top the list of the most in-demand routes from Madrid.
Record Summer Season: More Seats and More Destinations
Iberia is approaching the summer with an expanded offering compared to last year. In Latin America, where the airline is a connectivity leader, it will provide 3.2 million seats between Spain and the Americas—a 4% increase over summer 2024. The company operates flights to 18 destinations in 16 countries across the region.
For short- and medium-haul routes, Iberia maintains a capacity similar to last summer, with 16 million seats available.
Key Increases on European Routes
Some of the most significant increases include:
- Rome, with up to 7 daily flights.
- Paris, reaching 11 daily frequencies on certain days of the week.
Return of Seasonal Routes and Boost in Southern Europe
The summer schedule also marks the return of seasonal routes to:
- Portugal: Ponta Delgada, Funchal, and Faro.
- Albania: Tirana.
- Slovenia: Ljubljana.
- Greek Islands: Santorini, Mykonos, and Corfu.
Additionally, operations continue to Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Split in Croatia, as well as Catania, Olbia, Cagliari, and Palermo in Italy.
With this massive operation, Iberia is rolling out one of the largest logistical deployments in its recent history for the first weekend of summer. The combination of regular and charter flights, along with increased capacity in key markets, sets the stage for a record-breaking season for the Spanish airline group.
