LATAM Airlines has become the first airline in Latin America to offer its own branded eSIM, a digital SIM card that allows travelers to access mobile data without relying on Wi-Fi or incurring costly roaming charges. The service is already available on the company’s website and offers plans ranging from 1 GB to 10 GB for both regional and global destinations.
A Strategic Move to Lead in Travel Experience
The new LATAM eSIM is not just an add-on service. It’s a clear statement that connectivity has become an integral part of modern travel.
According to Ramiro Alfonsín, Commercial Vice President of LATAM Airlines Group: “With LATAM eSIM, we’re expanding our mission beyond flights; we’re creating a connected travel experience that extends beyond our passengers’ landing.”
This move reinforces LATAM’s vision of reducing travel friction, enhancing the user experience, and delivering value from the very first moment.

Standout Advantages
Unlike generic providers or local services, LATAM’s eSIM offers multiple benefits tailored for frequent travelers:
- Instant activation: No physical chips or complicated setup required.
- Secure, high-quality connectivity: Ideal for both business and leisure travel.
- Flexible plans: From 1 GB to 10 GB, depending on the destination and passenger needs.
- LATAM Pass Miles accumulation: Every purchase earns points in the group’s loyalty program.
This integrated approach strengthens the airline’s digital ecosystem and deepens its direct relationship with customers.
Technological Partnership and Future Vision
The solution was developed in collaboration with Gigs, a company specializing in connectivity infrastructure. Rafa Plantier, Vice President of Go-to-Market at Gigs, highlighted the strategic value of this initiative:
“People turn off airplane mode before they can even unbuckle their seatbelts. Connectivity is now a fundamental part of the travel experience. LATAM has recognized that by integrating mobile services directly into its ecosystem, they’re simplifying the experience for millions of travelers and setting a new standard…”
This new standard also opens the door to additional revenue streams while fostering customer loyalty.
Available Now, with More Enhancements on the Way
Users can already purchase the LATAM eSIM directly on latam.com. Even more exciting: the airline plans to roll out new integrations in the coming months to further expand the service’s capabilities.
