In 2026, Lufthansa will commemorate 100 years since the founding of the first airline under its name, marking the occasion with a transformative shift in the travel experience. The German carrier is preparing to launch FOX (Future Onboard Experience), a project that will overhaul its long-haul flight service and reinforce its position as a leader in the premium segment.
Lufthansa Airlines CEO, Jens Ritter, highlighted the scale of the investment: “We are investing more than 70 million euros in our new Future Onboard Experience in the next twelve months alone. This is our commitment to a top-tier product, to customer satisfaction, and to the airline’s future. By offering more individuality, greater comfort, and unique moments, we are building on what has defined us for these 100 years: being a thoughtful and unique host above the clouds.”
Fleet and Service Modernization
The airline had already been driving a modernization process with the introduction of aircraft like the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900, along with the launch of its Allegris cabin product. However, FOX goes a step further: it redesigns all onboard service processes in Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class, both on aircraft equipped with Allegris and those yet to be retrofitted.

The project aims to respond to passengers’ individual desires, offer greater flexibility, and enhance human interaction alongside the hospitality that distinguishes Lufthansa.
Three Pillars: Individuality, Comfort, and Unique Moments
Individuality
With FOX, passengers will have more control over their experience. In Business Class, customers will be able to flexibly choose the timing of their second meal, with a selection that includes sweet and savory dishes, snacks, and hot meals.
In Economy and Premium Economy, the offering is also being expanded: travelers will have three menu options instead of two.
Comfort
The new standard will be supported by higher-quality amenities, updated textiles, and completely new tableware across all classes. The design will be modern and timeless, adding value and aligning with the airline’s premium positioning.
Lufthansa Signature Moments
FOX will incorporate unique details that are part of the company’s identity. The rose in First Class, the exclusive caviar service, and the signature Avionic cocktail will remain, reinforcing the emotional connection with travelers.
On the culinary front, the offering will be structured around a trilogy: home-style flavors, variety, and signature Lufthansa dishes. Menus designed by renowned chefs will take passengers on a culinary journey inspired by either the departure point or the destination.
Launch Scheduled for 2026
The official launch of FOX is scheduled for spring 2026, coinciding with the airline’s anniversary. With this initiative, Lufthansa celebrates a century of history and reaffirms its commitment to continuing to set trends in the aviation industry.
