Copa Airlines announced Thursday the start of operations in June of this year to the cities of Baltimore in the United States and Manta in Ecuador. With these two new destinations, the airline reinforces its leadership in Latin America and strengthens the position of Panama and the Hub of the Americas as the main hub in the region.

“We are pleased to start the year by announcing the opening of two destinations full of history and with great tourist appeal in markets as important to Copa as Ecuador and the United States. In this way, we remain steadfast in our goal to increase connectivity through Panama between the countries where we operate, and contribute to the growth of tourism, investment and economic and social development in our region,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

With the opening of Baltimore, Copa continues to consolidate its route network in the U.S., adding the historic and cultural “Charm City” known for having more statues and public monuments per capita than any other U.S. city. This coastal destination joins the thirteen already operated by the airline in the United States: Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Denver, Washington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Fort Lauderdale.

Copa Airlines Increases Flights to Curaçao

Because of its proximity, the Copa Airlines flight to Baltimore will also serve as an alternative for those interested in visiting Washington D.C. and other cities in that part of the country. This new route will operate beginning June 28 with four weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, departing at 09:07 a.m. from Panama City (local time) and arriving at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) at 03:07 p.m. (local time). The return flight will depart on the same days from Baltimore at 04:22 p.m., arriving in Panama at 08:22 p.m. (local time).

On June 27, Copa Airlines will connect for the first time the Hub of the Americas® in Panama with the city of Manta, becoming the only airline to operate internationally to and from “The Gateway to the Pacific,” a destination known for its attractive beaches, gastronomy and for being Ecuador’s second largest maritime tourist and fishing port (after Guayaquil), with a high level of export and import activity.

This new connection becomes the third city in Ecuador where the airline operates, after Guayaquil and Quito.

The flight to Manta will operate with three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing at 03:10 p.m. from Panama (local time) and arriving at Eloy Alfaro International Airport (MEC) at 05:28 p.m. (local time). The return flight will depart on the same days from Manta at 06:18 p.m., arriving in Panama at 08:30 p.m. (local time).
