Iberia to exceed 300 weekly flights with Latin America in the upcoming winter season
Spanish airline Iberia announced that it will operate more than 300 weekly flights between Europe and Latin America in the upcoming winter season, which will begin on October 28 and run through March 30, 2024.
During these five months, the airline will focus even more on its long-haul network, with 17% more flights in this market and, especially, in Latin America, to reinforce its leadership in connectivity between both regions and the position of Madrid airport as a bridge between Europe and Latin America.
“We are developing an ambitious plan in Latin America and the Caribbean that will give a great boost to connectivity with this region and, above all, will allow us to reinforce the role of Madrid airport as a bridge between Europe and Latin America. In addition to this record increase in frequencies, we are adding a more sustainable fleet and improvements to our in-flight experience to position ourselves as the best option for flying between both sides of the Atlantic,” said Mª Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial and Network Development and Alliances Director.
More than two million seats between Europe and Latin America
In the upcoming winter season, Iberia will have a growth of around 14% compared to 2019. Throughout these months, the airline will offer more than two million seats between both regions, a record schedule that demonstrates its commitment to this corridor.
Mexico City, with 21 weekly frequencies, is Iberia’s destination in Latin America with the greatest capacity, a figure that the company will also match with three daily flights in Bogota throughout the winter season.

Peru will register a new increase, consolidating the two daily flights between Lima and Madrid, except for Sunday, with a total of 13 weekly frequencies, one less than Argentina, with 14 weekly frequencies between the two countries.
For its part, Chile fully recovers all the capacity it once had in pre-pandemia, with 10 weekly frequencies. The same connectivity will be available to Brazil, which will maintain its daily flight to Sao Paulo and will add one more frequency to Rio de Janeiro during the months of January and February, bringing the total to four weekly flights. Thus, by the beginning of 2024, the South American giant will have 11 weekly frequencies with Europe.
Ecuador will also have 10 weekly frequencies, as this country will see an increase in Quito to a daily flight, in addition to the three weekly frequencies to Guayaquil.
Another increase will be in Venezuela, where Iberia will increase from three to five weekly frequencies between Madrid and Caracas.
In the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic will have an increase during the winter season to nine weekly frequencies in January and 10 in February. Puerto Rico will also increase its connectivity with Spain by one frequency in November to five weekly, and will reach a daily flight at the beginning of 2024. The connection with Havana will have three weekly frequencies.
In Central America, routes to Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama, as well as Uruguay in the southern cone, will have a daily flight.
