Colombians continue to select the Dominican Republic as one of their main destinations to enjoy their vacation season. For them, Wingo implements a series of capacity additions with a focus on Punta Cana.

This increase in seats will be emphasized in the last quarter of 2024, with a special focus on the peak season weeks of both December 2024 and January 2025. The increases will represent up to 75% additional flights on the two operating routes to Punta Cana, with six extra frequencies representing up to 9,000 additional seats in that season.

For the Bogota – Punta Cana – Bogota route, Wingo will begin implementing its additional flights on September 1, 2024, when it will add one frequency per week, to culminate the increases in November 2024, when it will implement a daily flight between Bogota and Punta Cana. These two additional flights represent 3,000 seats per month.

Wingo to operate 5,183 flights during the mid-year holiday season

For the Medellin – Punta Cana – Medellin route, two frequencies per week will be added as of November 1, 2024, to perfect these increases on December 16, 2024, when a daily flight will be offered focused on these high season weeks. These four additional flights represent 6,000 added seats.

“The Dominican Republic is one of the key countries in our process of consolidating our position as the preferred airline in the Caribbean for Colombians. With these additional flights to Punta Cana, we reach up to 22 frequencies per week, which represents about 33 thousand seats per month on both routes; a number that reflects our commitment to be the best direct flight option in the Colombia – Dominican Republic market,” said Jorge Jimenez, Wingo’s Vice President of Commercial and Planning.

In addition to the routes to Punta Cana, Wingo offers direct flights to Santo Domingo from Medellin and Bogota. This operation will have up to four frequencies per week on both routes.
