Canadian airline Air Transat is strengthening its presence in the Latin American market with the launch of an exclusive route connecting Toronto to Medellín, featuring a stopover in Cartagena. This new service, operating twice weekly, responds to the growing demand from Canadian travelers interested in both tourism and family reunification trips.
As explained by Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer of Transat, “Adding Medellín to our network reflects our desire to expand while meeting the real demand of our customers.” This move aligns with the selective growth strategy from Toronto, focused on high-potential markets like Colombia.
Fleet Optimization and Smart Connectivity
A standout feature of this new operation is the optimized use of the fleet. By combining two Colombian destinations into a single route, the airline achieves a more efficient and profitable operation while offering more options to its passengers.

The route also adds an additional frequency to the existing Toronto-Cartagena flights, increasing capacity and enhancing connectivity between the two countries.
Launch Date: Coming Soon
Although the exact start date for this new route and ticket sales have yet to be announced, Air Transat confirmed that these details will be revealed soon as part of its 2025-2026 winter schedule.
It is worth noting that this new route is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
