Cathay Pacific has reached a new milestone in its international network with the launch of its first direct flight between Hong Kong and Munich, Germany. This service not only marks the airline’s first non-stop connection to the Bavarian capital but also significantly strengthens its presence in the European market.
The new route is part of an ambitious expansion strategy, which recently saw the introduction of seasonal flights to Rome starting June 5 and anticipates the resumption of operations to Brussels on August 3.
A Global Network of 100 Destinations
Together with its low-cost subsidiary HK Express, Cathay Pacific has expanded its global reach. The airline group has now achieved 100 passenger destinations worldwide, solidifying its role as a key player in international connectivity.
In 2025, the two airlines will add a total of 18 new destinations to their combined network. In June alone, Cathay Pacific launched flights to Rome and Munich, while HK Express introduced services to Cheongju and Daegu and will add Miyako (Shimojishima) next week.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, emphasized the importance of this new route: “We are thrilled to welcome Munich to our global network for the first time, offering customers a direct connection between Hong Kong and a key economic, manufacturing, and transportation hub in Europe.”
