WestJet Announces Largest Order in Its History: 67 Boeing Aircraft
WestJet has revealed an agreement with Boeing that includes the purchase of 60 737 MAX 10 aircraft and options for 25 more, along with seven 787-9 Dreamliners and the possibility of acquiring four additional units. With this move, the Canadian airline secures the growth of its fleet through 2034, reaching a total of 123 firm aircraft and 40 options.
WestJet’s Chief Executive Officer, Alexis von Hoensbroech, emphasized that this order makes the company the airline with the largest order portfolio in Canada. He also highlighted that the Dreamliner fleet will double, supporting expansion plans, fleet renewal, and the commitment to affordable travel options. He also noted that these more efficient and comfortable models will significantly improve fuel consumption.

One of Youngest Fleets in North America
Currently, WestJet operates 193 aircraft, including 147 Boeing 737s, seven 787s, and 39 De Havilland Q400s, with an average age of 10 years, making it one of the youngest fleets among established North American airlines. With the approval of this order by the Board of Directors, WestJet has not only sealed its largest acquisition contract but also the largest Boeing order ever placed by a Canadian airline.
Boeing, a Key Partner Since 1996
Since its founding, WestJet has operated Boeing aircraft, building a relationship spanning nearly three decades. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, welcomed the agreement, stating that this investment solidifies WestJet’s fleet for the coming decades and strengthens the cooperation between both companies.
