In the summer of 2026, Lufthansa Group will solidify its position as one of the world’s largest airline operators by offering more than 14,000 weekly connections to 330 destinations in approximately 100 countries.

Lufthansa Airlines: More Destinations and a More Stable Flight Schedule

From Frankfurt and Munich, Lufthansa will focus on the stability and reliability of its network. During the summer 2026 season, the airline will operate five weekly flights from Frankfurt to St. Louis, Rio de Janeiro, and Cape Town, and daily flights to Raleigh/Durham, Washington, and Nairobi.

Due to high demand for Scandinavia, Lufthansa will add Trondheim (Norway) to its network from Frankfurt, with four weekly flights starting May 1, 2026. With additional services from Munich, the airline will offer at least a daily frequency to Norway’s third-largest city, also strengthening other Northern European destinations like Bergen and Stavanger.

In Munich, the summer season will be extended with two long-haul routes—São Paulo and Johannesburg—introduced in the winter 2025/26 schedule and continuing throughout the summer. Both will be operated with the modern Airbus A350-900.

However, due to high operating costs in Germany, Lufthansa will reduce over 50 frequencies on domestic routes, such as Munich-Cologne, Düsseldorf-Berlin, Frankfurt-Leipzig, and Frankfurt-Nuremberg. Connections for Munich-Münster/Osnabrück and Munich-Dresden will also be evaluated. For economic reasons, the Frankfurt-Toulouse, Munich-Tallinn, and Munich-Oviedo routes will cease operations in spring 2026, although they will remain available via connecting flights through other hubs.

SWISS: New Routes to Poland and Croatia

Starting March 29, 2026, SWISS will launch flights from Zurich to Poznań, the fifth-largest city in Poland. During July and August, it will also add Rijeka, in Croatia’s Kvarner Bay. Furthermore, it will increase frequencies to European destinations such as Alicante, Valencia, Manchester, Montpellier, Tirana, Budapest, and Venice. For long-haul, it will offer daily flights to Tokyo in April, May, and October, and five weekly frequencies for the rest of the season.

Austrian Airlines: Expansion in Summer Destinations and “Coolcations”

Austrian Airlines’ summer 2026 schedule will be diverse and attractive. Greece, Spain, and Italy will continue to lead demand, with new destinations and increased frequencies. The airline will also expand its popular “coolcation” routes, such as Sylt, Edinburgh, and the Lofoten Islands, which return with greater capacity following their success in the previous season.

ITA Airways: Return to London Heathrow and More Summer Options

ITA Airways has previewed part of its summer 2026 schedule, confirming its return to London Heathrow with the Rome Fiumicino-London Heathrow route, which will operate twice daily. Additionally, it will offer direct flights from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to key holiday destinations in Greece, Spain, and the Italian islands, expanding its summer offerings. The company will continue to strengthen its Rome hub, committed to offering Italian hospitality, innovation, and global connectivity.

Brussels Airlines: Strengthening in Africa and More Capacity in Europe

The Belgian airline Brussels Airlines will add Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) to its network starting June 2026, with two weekly flights, making it its eighteenth destination in Sub-Saharan Africa. It will also increase its flights to Freetown (Sierra Leone) from five to six weekly frequencies, adding a new service on Thursdays. Within Europe, it will expand capacity, particularly to Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

Edelweiss: New Routes and Increased Long-Haul Offerings

Starting June 2026, Edelweiss will offer two weekly flights to Windhoek (Namibia) and increase frequencies to Seattle, Punta Cana, and Tampa, in addition to extending its seasonal operations to Halifax, Cape Town, and Colombo. The Swiss airline is thus responding to the growing interest in diverse and exotic holiday destinations.

Discover Airlines: New Routes and Year-Round Flights

Discover Airlines will launch new routes from Frankfurt to Shannon (Ireland) and Brindisi (Italy), with two weekly frequencies each. Furthermore, it will add Cyprus to its network with daily flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Larnaca, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It will operate two daily flights from Frankfurt on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and from Munich on Fridays and Sundays.

In the long-haul segment, the Frankfurt-Seychelles connection, initially planned only for winter, will be maintained year-round. A fifth weekly flight to Las Vegas, available on Saturdays, will also be added.
