Mexican airline Viva Aerobus informed this Tuesday that the interline agreement it signed with Viva Air in October 2021, which allowed passengers to purchase tickets to fly the Bogota – Mexico City and Bogota – Cancun routes from the website or applications of either airline, was provisionally suspended as of January 19.

However, the Mexican airline clarified that if there is still a case of a passenger who had made a reservation under this interline agreement, having been affected by the cessation of operations of Viva Air, Viva Aerobus will make sure that he/she can travel on one of its flights.

“Given this scenario, in order to avoid confusion among passengers, the Mexican airline recalls that Viva Aerobus and Viva Air are two totally independent airlines and companies. Therefore, Viva Aerobus reiterates that it maintains unchanged its operations in Colombia, where it currently offers four routes flying from Bogota to Cancun, Mexico City, Guadalajara and soon to Monterrey, services operated with a fleet of 69 aircraft,” said the Mexican company.

Special promotion for Viva Air passengers

In solidarity with the passengers who have been affected by the situation of the Colombian company Viva Air, Viva Aerobus has decided to establish a special promotion to encourage travel, as well as to continue promoting the dynamism and cultural exchange between both countries.

In this regard, all passengers who have a reservation with Viva Air will be able to purchase a ticket with the Mexican airline to travel between Bogota and the cities of Cancun and Mexico City with a 20% discount on the base fare. This benefit applies for travel between February 28 and March 15, 2023.
