LATAM Expands Operations in Brazil and Strengthens Connectivity with Chile and Italy
LATAM Airlines continues to establish itself as the airline with the largest investment in Brazilian aviation. On Tuesday, the company announced a significant expansion of its domestic and international flight network, aiming to democratize access to aviation and enhance the country’s connectivity.
37% Increase in Domestic Flights in Brazil Starting April
LATAM has scheduled a 37% increase in six domestic routes within Brazil starting in April, which represents the addition of 6,000 weekly seats. These routes will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 174 passengers.
The expanded flights include:
- São Paulo/Congonhas – Fortaleza: increase from 20 to 27 weekly flights.
- Fortaleza – São Luís: increase from 7 to 10 weekly flights.
- Fortaleza – Teresina: increase from 7 to 11 weekly flights.
- Brasília – Palmas: increase from 7 to 10 weekly flights.
- Brasília – São Luís: increase from 7 to 10 weekly flights.
- Rio de Janeiro/Galeão – Porto Alegre: increase from 14 to 17 weekly flights.

50% Expansion in Flights Between Brazil and Chile During Peak Season
To meet the growing demand for travel between Brazil and Chile, LATAM has increased the number of flights between the two countries by 50% during January and February of this year. This represents nearly 2,500 flights during the period.
Key improvements include:
- Rio de Janeiro/Galeão – Santiago: increase from 20 to 40 weekly flights.
- Florianópolis – Santiago: increase from 9 to 20 weekly flights.
Additionally, in 2024, LATAM inaugurated three new routes between Brazil and Chile: Brasília – Santiago, Fortaleza – Santiago, and Recife – Santiago, adding to six other regular routes.
Greater Connectivity Between Brazil and Italy Starting June 2025
Starting in June 2025, the airline will increase flights connecting Brazil with Italy by 27%. This expansion responds to the growing demand from passengers in this market, especially considering that the South American giant is home to the largest colony of Italian descendants in the world.
- São Paulo/Guarulhos – Milan: increase from 6 to 7 weekly flights in June.
- São Paulo/Guarulhos – Rome: increase from 5 to 7 weekly flights in July.
The flights will be operated with modern Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777 aircraft, with capacities of up to 410 passengers, distributed among Premium Business, Economy+, and Economy cabins.
LATAM: The Airline with the Largest Investment in Brazil
LATAM leads Brazilian aviation with the largest flight network in its history, operating in 52 airports across the country. By 2025, an 8% growth in domestic seat availability (ASK) is expected.
In the last two years, LATAM’s fleet in Brazil has grown by 13%, with the addition of 25 new aircraft since January 2023. Furthermore, in December 2024, the airline inaugurated the LATAM School in Brazil, a program designed to promote career development in aviation.
