Breeze Airways has just received FAA certification as a U.S. Flag Carrier. This makes it the first airline in over a decade to complete this rigorous process, a step that paves the way for its international expansion.

Simultaneously, the airline announced its flight plan to three destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean—Cancún, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay—subject to government approval, along with the opening of a new crew base in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Breeze Airways Announces West Coast Expansion with Flights to Five New Cities

“Becoming a U.S. Flag Carrier is a tremendous achievement for Breeze, the result of work over the past three years,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO. “We are excited to offer the same convenient and pleasant experience already enjoyed by our domestic passengers on flights to three highly attractive international destinations.”

New Crew Base in Raleigh-Durham

The Raleigh-Durham hub will open in the first quarter of 2026, becoming the 12th base in Breeze’s national network. The company estimates it will create more than 200 jobs for pilots and flight attendants in the Research Triangle region.

“Breeze is already the number one airline at RDU in terms of destinations served,” noted Neeleman, emphasizing that the area is key for recruiting new talent and strengthening operations.

A Flexible Network with State-of-the-Art Aircraft

The company is known for directly connecting underserved cities with high-demand destinations, reducing unnecessary travel times and improving air access for millions of passengers.

With its fleet of modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft and differentiated products such as free family seating, fast onboard WiFi, premium seat options, and no change or cancellation fees, Breeze reaffirms its motto of making flying “seriously nice.”
