LATAM announced this Wednesday that it obtained the necessary permission from the Colombian Civil Aeronautics to operate flights to Venezuela. Venezuelan authorities are now expected to open connections with the neighboring country, which have been closed since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aerocivil’s approval is to operate passenger, mail and cargo flights between Bogotá and Caracas, with seven weekly frequencies.

LATAM resumes 14 routes and projects 80% operation for July.

In this way, LATAM joins Avianca and Wingo, with permits from the Colombian civil authority to fly to Venezuela.

For many, a possible absolute normalization in relations between the two countries could take place as of next August 7, the day Gustavo Petro takes office as President of Colombia.
