The Civil Aeronautics, with the support of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Canadian Embassy in Colombia, signed an agreement of understanding that allows air operations between the two territories, increasing from 14 weekly frequencies to unlimited frequencies to and from any point in both countries.

JetSMART requests authorization to operate domestic routes in Colombia.

This important agreement will allow both Colombian and Canadian airlines to operate without barriers or limitations between the two territories, which will enable more airlines to offer greater service offerings.

The airlines currently have the following routes approved:

AIR CANADA:
Toronto – Bogotá – Toronto, with five (5) weekly frequencies.
Toronto – Cartagena – Toronto, with three (3) weekly frequencies.
Montreal – Bogota – Montreal, with three (3) weekly frequencies.

AIR TRANSAT:
Montreal – Cartagena – Montreal, with two (2) weekly frequencies.
Toronto – Cartagena – Toronto, with one (1) weekly frequency.

AVIANCA:
Bogota – Montreal and/or Toronto – Bogota, with seven (7) weekly frequencies.

The Aeronautical Authority recognizes that this agreement represents benefits for commercial aviation and for air transport users, because it generates greater connectivity conditions and the promotion of tourism and commercial exchange, under a competitive environment and will continue working to open new opportunities in the national aeronautical market.
