GOL Linhas Aéreas has officially opened ticket sales for its nonstop route between Rio de Janeiro and New York for the 2027 season. This strategic move, aligned with its 330-day booking window, consolidates the carrier’s international expansion following the introduction of widebody aircraft into its fleet.
Long-Haul Expansion and RIOgaleão Hub Consolidation
The Brazilian airline is fully immersed in an intercontinental phase thanks to the introduction of Airbus A330 aircraft, which will directly connect Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro with John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
This operation not only reinforces the airline’s international strategy but also positions RIOgaleão as the company’s newest international hub. The route connects two key tourism and business centers in South and North America, expanding connectivity options for passengers across the continent.
Operations on this air route will initially launch on July 8, 2026, coinciding with the peak winter season in Brazil. Subsequently, continuous service for the 2027 season will formally begin on March 28 of that year.

American Airlines Alliance and GOL’s New INSIGNIA Class
Thanks to a long-standing partnership with U.S. carrier American Airlines, ticket sales are already integrated and available through the partner company’s sales channels.
To capture the corporate and premium passenger segments on long-haul routes, the airline is introducing its business class branded as INSIGNIA. This premium product offers a differentiated inflight experience through the following features:
- Ground Priority: Priority check-in, boarding, deplaning, and baggage handling processes.
- VIP Lounges: Access to GOL Smiles proprietary lounges and partner operators’ lounges in key destinations such as New York, Orlando, Paris, and Lisbon.
- Inflight Comfort: Fully flat lie-flat seats, active noise-canceling headphones, and an individual inflight entertainment system with a 16-inch touchscreen.
- Culinary Experience: A premium dining menu exclusively designed by two-Michelin-starred chef Felipe Bronze.
Distribution Channels
Air tickets for travel starting in March 2027 can now be formally purchased through the company’s official website and mobile app, the Smiles loyalty platform, the airline’s airport ticket offices, traditional travel agencies, and via American Airlines’ global distribution channels.
